“For the Lord your God has blessed you in all that you have done; He has known about your wanderings through this great wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.” Deut 2:7 AMP
Deuteronomy is easily in my top favorite books of the Old Testament, if not the entire Bible. (Honestly, probably the entire Bible because my definite #1 favorite is in the OT as well.) It’s full of so many wonderful nuggets, as the entire book is about looking back and reflecting on what the Lord had done for the Israelites as they prepare to FINALLY enter into the promised land.
This particular verse was of great encouragement to me when I was involved in missions previously, and I would often put myself into the verse, in order to help me apply it to my life. Without a doubt, I could extend that now (that will likely always be true) to apply it to the season that I’ve been in.
…These two and a half years the Lord has been with me; I have lacked nothing.
Although my nearly 31 years of life thus far have certainly not gone according to [my] plan, and the past 5 years even less so, my Father has never failed me, and He’s not about to start. Like Moses was trying to get the Israelites to do, I can look back over those 31 years and see the Lord’s hand so clearly. I may not understand why things have happened as they have, but His sovereignty is beautiful, and that will always be true. It was true then, and it is true now, as I head into a new season and, in a sense, my own promised land.
In my last update, I talked about my season of pause coming to a close, and that I would be doing a 2-week mission trip, originally to Madagascar, then changed to Zanzibar. In the end, all trips were cancelled due to Covid, and thus, I was not able to go overseas in 2020. If you were one of the wonderful people that gave towards my trip, do not fret; those funds have been saved for me to go in 2021, and I have decided to stick with the original plan, which was Madagascar. So will be heading there in July for 2 weeks, and I am very excited about that.
In the meantime, however, there is even bigger news. I am thrilled to be able to announce that I am officially rejoining staff with Overland Missions and will be launching back into a season of building my full-time partnership team next month.
From the moment that I began this season away, I knew that this day would come, but it feels like it’s been in the works for so long. So it feels a bit surreal that the day has come. I am excited, expectant, and so thankful to the Lord for bringing me here.
So what’s next? I will be spending the first part of January with a chunk of our Overland team for our annual conference, staff retreat, and training. Upon returning home in late January, I will begin reaching out to you to get together (whether in person or virtual) to share further details of where the Lord is taking me next.
In the meantime, I encourage you to sign up for my email newsletter to stay in the loop about what the Lord is doing. Click here or send me a message to get added to the list.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey so far. Your love, prayers, and support mean so much.
And thank You to Lahai Roi, the Living One Who sees me, who has never left or forsaken me. He is so good and so faithful.
He Who has promised is faithful.
