Zambia Day 11

We are officially off of Zambian soil and en route to South Africa. It was definitely hard to leave Zambia and our leaders.
This morning we got up and went to a buffet breakfast at a fancy resort in Livingstone. The hotel was beautiful, the food was good, and they have zebras and giraffes that roam the property. The giraffes were shy and walked away, but we got up close and personal with the zebras, which was awesome, especially since we didn’t see any on our safari. There was a little baby zebra, and a few of the adults were pregnant.
After breakfast, we went to the curio (souvenir) market. Shopping there was stressful because the vendors were extremely pushy, and you had to haggle. But I mostly got what I wanted. The only disappointing thing was that a vendor who was supposed to meet us there didn’t come. But we were able to leave some money with her to buy what we wanted, and then Brandon (who is a member of coe22 that is finishing up AMT) will bring them home for us when he comes in a month. Then we drove to the airport and said our goodbyes. 😦 Annie (our main translator) gave all of us Tonga names; mine is Luiando, which means laugh.
I’m kind of glad that we have long layovers going back because it’ll be a good time for us to reflect and process about our trip. Zambia, I love you and I’ll see you again soon. ❤
