Zambia Day 5

Today we went back to the same village as yesterday (Moomba), since the ceremony still continued and people were still there in mass. Overland has a good relationship with Chief Moomba, so we were able to collaborate with a nearby church to hold a church service at the chief’s palace, which was amazing. I loved listening to the African worship songs, and then our team went up front and sang “Our God” for everyone, and they loved it. After the service, we went back to the truck to have lunch. Since Friday, we’ve had four AMT students (AMT is Overland’s advanced missions training), the Overland base pastor, and Overland’s founders with us to partake in the chief ceremony, but they all left after lunch to return to base. So now it’s just our team, one translator, two Overland expedition leaders, our driver/security guard, and the sector manager (which is Overland’s full time missionary to this area of Zambia). Eleven women, two men. 🙂
So then after lunch, those of us remaining split into two groups. One group went to hang out with the people at the ceremony, and the group I was in went to do ministry with some kids. We started with three kids and attracted around 8 more. We only had an hour to spend with them because our leaders wanted to get back to camp early to rest and relax before beginning our real ministry days tomorrow. But we did about 4 songs with the kids, 3 Zambian ones and an English one from coe22 kids that we taught them. Then we told and acted out the story of David and Goliath, and prayed over them, which I led. And I say that not to toot my own horn, but because I could feel God helping me with the words during my prayer. Tomorrow will begin the true test. I’m praying with all my heart that God would remove my brain and replace the spot with Him alone. And that He would give us the spirit of courage, His words of truth, and His power to heal. It’s about to get real.
