Zambia Day 2

Part one:
We’re in transit to Zambia now. In less than 90 minutes, we will be on Zambian soil. Frankly, I’m still in disbelief. Maybe I’ll start to believe it once we’re on the Overland truck. On a side note, if you’re traveling abroad, I highly recommend South African Airways. Even on this little 80 minute flight, they’ve given us a sandwich and little cinnamon roll. Great service. 🙂
Anyway, I can’t wait to see what God is going to accomplish on this trip. This is about serving the Lord, so it doesn’t feel right to ask for something for myself, but I’m hoping that this trip allows me to experience God’s closeness like never before and that it helps me fix my weaknesses. One area where my faith is lacking is in my confidence in my own prayers. I know that prayer works and that God is more than capable of answering every one of them, but I often doubt the strength of my own prayers, as so many go unfulfilled. I know that some of this is just my perspective, but I hope that God works through me to perform some miracles on this trip. It would be the boost that I need.

Part two:

I’m still not sure if I actually believe that I’m in Zambia. Either that, or this just feels normal and natural to me. Our Overland leaders picked us up from the airport with one of Overland’s military-style trucks. From there, we went to town to go to the market to pick up a few things for the base and grabbed a bite at The Hungry Lion, which is their version of KFC, then we went to visit Victoria Falls for an hour or two. It was beautiful, as expected, although it was somewhat barren since it’s their dry season. Then we went to the base to eat dinner, clean up, and have a little orientation time. We leave bright and early in the morning to head to the bush. I really have to push myself tomorrow to get focused because currently my mind is in vacation mode, which I’m sure is partially Satan’s doing. I also don’t want to focus too much on details and just revel in God and in each moment. Lord, please kidnap my mind and draw me closer into your presence than ever. ❤
